State's Busiest Emergency Department

RCRH treats approximately 48,600 patients each year

Rapid City Regional Hospital treats more patients than the other two largest hospitals in the state.

RCRH's Emergency Department had 49,573 visits last fiscal year
Sanford USD Medical Center and Avera McKennan, both in Sioux Falls, treat 32,000 and 24,000 emergency visit patients each year
Not only is the RCRH Emergency Department the busiest, it also provides some of the shortest wait times
The emergency department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by board-certified emergency physicians

"Our great teamwork, camaraderie and customer service is provided by over 120 E.D. team members consisting of physicians, nurses, medics, techs, HUCs and admission associates, all of whom allow us to provide excellent patient care to all our community and patients," said Emergency Department Director Louie Feterl, RN, CEN.
