Spearfish Regional Surgery Center ranks first from Patients Recommending the Facility

Spearfish Regional Surgery Center (SRSC) ranks first in the state with a score of 96 percent from patients recommending the facility, according to HCAHPS - Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems.

SRSC scored a 95 percent in physician communication, a 93 percent in staff responsiveness, and a 93 percent in overall patient satisfaction.

HCAHPS asks patients if they would recommend a facility to others. The national patient recommendation average for facilities is 68 percent.

Michael Delano, Director of SRSC, said the high scores are the result of excellent staff who are cross-trained to take on several duties.

"When you have that type of training, you are much more aware of what it takes to keep everybody happy because you understand what happens to the patient before he or she comes to you and after he or she leaves you," he said. "I am proud of the staff here for keeping patient satisfaction a priority."
