Why did you register to be an organ and tissue donor?

I registered to be an organ and tissue donor because I’ve worked with patients and families who have been both organ donors and transplant recipients. I’ve seen what a tremendous difference donation has made in those families’ lives. I’ve also watched people struggle and lose their quality of life while they wait for a transplant. My simple act of organ and tissue donation has the possibility of truly saving another person’s life or completely changing their quality of life. It was an easy choice for me to register to be a donor!

Why do you believe it is important for others to register as organ and tissue donors?
Everyone has an amazing opportunity to help many other people by giving the gift of life. Donor families take great comfort and pride in knowing their loved one changed the lives of so many other people with this one act of generosity. Registering to be an organ and tissue donor and discussing your wishes with your family insures your gift of organ and tissue donation will be carried out.
