Bigge Honored with Rapid City Regional Hospital's DAISY Award for Nurses

Jeremy Bigge received the July DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses at Rapid City Regional Hospital (RCRH). He has been a registered nurse (RN) in the Progressive Care Unit for three years. A patient's wife nominated Bigge for the DAISY Award. "Jeremy has that extra touch – sensitivity "man to man" if you will. He responded quickly to my husband's needs, didn't waste time, but always took time to answer questions. Always efficient and approachable; he went the extra mile. Regional Health Heart and Vascular Program Earns National Quality Recognition

The Regional Health Heart and Vascular program was recognized Wednesday, Aug. 13, for excellence in quality care with two national awards. These awards include the Platinum award for the ACTION Registry from the American College of Cardiology, which is the highest award achievable for measuring performance for heart attack patients, and a Silver Award for outcomes in the Mission: Lifeline Project. Mission: Lifeline is a national program sponsored by the American Heart Association (AHA) focusing on the care of heart attack patients with a complete blockage of a blood vessel or artery.

Black Hills Cardiovascular Research Participation in National Study Contributes to New Drug Therapy Possibility

A national cardiac medication research study involving Black Hills Cardiovascular Research, and four participants from around the Black Hills, has resulted in a new drug therapy which could have a great impact on people diagnosed with chronic heart failure. Black Hills Cardiovascular Research was one of 60 national sites participating in Phase 2b of an investigational study (CUPID 2) for a drug therapy called MYDICAR®. Fourteen potential participants from the Black Hills area were screened for the study with four subsequently qualifying for enrollment.

The Regional Health Daily Hospital Motorcycle Rally Tally Report will be featured in the Regional Health website Newsroom from Aug. 1-Aug. 11 at: www.regionalhealth.com/newsroom. Information from Regional Health's five hospitals in Custer, Lead-Deadwood, Rapid City, Spearfish and Sturgis will be included in the daily report. The report will be updated daily by 11 a.m. It will show the number of Rally-Related Inpatients (those hospitalized), on the morning posted, and Emergency Room (ER) Visits, for a 24-hour period, by facility.
