Parking Lot Expansion Begins at Rapid City Regional Hospital

Regional Health Laboratory Equipment Upgrades to Benefit Patients

RAPID CITY, SD - Regional Health is undergoing a $2.4 million project to add state-of-the-art Beckman Coulter chemistry analyzing and automation laboratory equipment to Regional Health's nine laboratories. The equipment and partnership with Beckman Coulter will improve the patient experience and quality of care. The new lab equipment will standardize patient care in all Regional Health laboratories, reduce patient waiting times and enhance patient outcomes.

The funds to purchase the equipment, totaling $35,737, were provided by Children's Miracle Network Hospitals® at Regional Health. The three new pieces of equipment include a Pediatric Immobilizer and Positioner, a VeinViewer and a Sonosite iViz.

Cancer Care Institute Technology Upgrade Benefits Area Cancer Radiation Patients

RAPID CITY, SD - In its continuing efforts to help patients and communities live well, Rapid City Regional Hospital (RCRH) announced the Cancer Care Institute (CCI) has upgraded its radiation treatment technology for cancer patients during a news conference today, Wednesday, April 6. CCI was a pioneer in the field of radiation oncology when it implemented TomoTherapy®, a state-of-the-art radiation delivery system, in 2004. Now, 12 years later, Regional Health has upgraded the technology with a new unit to help ensure cancer patients can continue to receive advanced cancer radiation treatment in the Black Hills without having to travel hundreds—or even thousands—of miles for high quality, safe cancer care.

Western South Dakota is experiencing an increase in the number of individuals with respiratory infections, including influenza. As Regional Health's priority is the safety and health of its most vulnerable hospital patients and senior care residents, Regional Health has implemented visitation guidelines. Impacted facilities include Regional Hospitals in: Custer, Lead-Deadwood, Rapid City (including the Regional Rehabilitation Institute), Spearfish and Sturgis. Visitation guidelines are also in effect at: Custer Regional Senior Care and Wedgwood Regional Senior Care in Custer, Fairmont Grand Regional Senior Care in Rapid City, Golden Ridge Regional Senior Care in Lead, and Sturgis Regional Senior Care.
