Hospital Foundation Teams Up with Rapid City Rush in Fight Against Cancer

ea hockey fans who want to make a difference in the fight against cancer are encouraged to attend “Pink at the Rink” nights at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center on  Thursday, Feb. 9 and Friday, Feb. 10. The Thursday night Rapid City Rush hockey game will begin at 6:35 p.m. and the Friday night game will begin at 7:05 p.m. Rush players will wear pink jerseys and auction them after the Friday night game with proceeds benefitting the Regional Cancer Care Institute.

The Regional Rehabilitation Institute, a department of Rapid City Regional Hospital, was recently accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its Inpatient Rehabilitation programs and services. Regional Rehabilitation Institute received a three-year accreditation, which represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization.

Black Hills Cardiovascular Research Participated in Study for New FDA Approved Heart Medication

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved Xarelto (rivaroxaban) as a new anticoagulant for patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. Black Hills Cardiovascular Research (BHCR) participated in the pivotal trial, known as the ROCKET trial, which was the final trial to obtain FDA approval of this new drug.
