If you're staying with us...
Telephone: Resident rooms can be called directly from locations outside the Hospice House. Please give the room telephone number to family and friends. You can make local and long-distance calls from your room. Long-distance calls must be billed to a third party, calling card or placed collect.
Meals: Patient meals are served three times a day. If you would like a snack or beverage at another time, please ask a team member. We ask you please inform Hospice House staff in advance should visitors like to order a tray. Families may keep food in the Hospice House kitchen or eat in the Rapid City Regional Hospital Cafeteria.
Internet: Complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout the Hospice House.
Library: The Altrusa Club's lending library consists of books and magazines for enrichment and entertainment. Movies are available in the Great Room.
Valuables and Personal Items: The best way to protect your jewelry, keepsakes or money is to leave it at home. We cannot accept responsibility for the safekeeping of personal property.
Overnight Stays: We encourage families to return to their own homes on a regular basis so they can return refreshed to visit the hospice patient. During times of serious illness, family members may wish to stay. Each room has one pull-out chair which can accommodate one person. The Family Room can accommodate up to two people. It has a pull-out queen bed and a bathroom with a shower. The Family Room is set up for one day at a time use and required prior approval from the Hospice House nurse or program supervisor.
Tobacco Policy: All Regional Health facilities, including the Hospice House and surrounding property, are tobacco- free environments. Tobacco use is not permitted on the campus, including the buildings, on the property, parking lots, sidewalks, walkways or in personal vehicles located on the property.
