Pharmacy

The Cancer Care Institute Pharmacy is a satellite of Rapid City Regional Hospital’s Pharmacy department. It provides complete pharmaceutical services to the patients of the Cancer Care Institute and Hospice/Home Health programs. Oncology pharmacists are also available in the Rapid City Regional Hospital acute-care pharmacy on weekends and evenings to provide continuous care to our hospitalized patients.

Our pharmacists and technicians are specially trained in oncology pharmacy. They are part of the dedicated team that selects, prepares, and monitors each patient’s unique chemotherapy treatment. Our pharmacists perform a complete review of the patient history, lab values, current disease and treatment regimen along with a dosage check of each medication. In addition, they assist the physician in selecting the treatments to prevent and treat chemotherapy side effects such as nausea and anemia.

The Cancer Care Institute’s pharmacy has state-of-the-art equipment for preparing intravenous medications.  Every chemotherapy dose is carefully prepared by a technician and checked by a pharmacist. Our technicians are nationally certified in hospital pharmacy, with extensive training in preparing IV and chemotherapy medications.

The pharmacy provides take-home prescription services for the patients of the Cancer Care Institute. If you have Medicaid, Medicare, HIS, Tri-Care, DakotaCare, Western Health, or other insurance coverage for take-home   prescriptions, please visit with pharmacy personnel prior to getting your prescription filled.
