Extended Care Costs and Insurance

Extended care is not a service covered by Medicare, but may be paid for privately or with other programs that may be available.

The South Dakota Department of Social Services Adult Homemaker program may provide financial assistance for services to delay or prevent the need for care in an institution. This program is not designed to replace assistance provided by family and friends. Financial eligibility is based on income and resources. A cost share may be required.
