Reggie Field Trips

Rapid City Regional Hospital's
"Coming to the Hospital" Program!

(May, 2011) A stay in the hospital can be frightening to a young child regardless of how wonderful the care is or how compassionate caregivers are. Providing hospital field trips is one way Rapid City Regional Hospital attempts to ease children's anxiety.
The field trips have been taking place for more than 20 years.
"They cover some aspects of being in the hospital," said Sharon Long, Assistant Director of Pediatrics and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. "They show what it looks like to take their temperature, or to take blood pressure, and show what an IV looks like."
The field trips last about 1 1/2 hours and are primarily for elementary students.
