Before Surgery
Your doctor may schedule an appointment with a pre-admission nurse prior to your procedure. If not, a nurse from Rapid City Regional Hospital will call you the day before your procedure and review your medical history over the phone. In either case, our goal is to decrease your length of stay in the hospital and help identify any concerns prior to your procedure.
Pre-Admission Appointment
- A nurse will review your medical history and do a physical assessment. Information will be given to you regarding your procedure and what to expect.
- Any necessary tests, such as lab work, X-rays, or other diagnostic exams, will be completed.
- If necessary, you may meet with other members of our health care team such as anesthesiologists, radiologists, or physical therapists.
- You will be told when and where to arrive for your procedure.
Pre-Procedure Phone Interview
- A nurse will provide any instructions and briefly review your medical history.
