How long does it take from the first phone call to surgery?
2-4 months

Will I be sick a lot after the operation?
The Lap-Band limits food intake. You will need to chew your food well and eat slowly.

Will I need to take vitamin supplements?
It is recommended. You may not get enough vitamins from three small meals a day.

What about other medications?
You should be able to take prescribed medications. You may need to use capsules or break big tablets in half or dissolve them in water so they do not get stuck.

Does Medicare cover bariatric surgery?
Medicare does cover bariatric surgery if performed at a Bariatric Center of Excellence. The Regional Bariatric Surgery and Weight Management Center is not a designated Center of Excellence at this time, but could perform follow-up care after surgery.

Do other insurance companies cover bariatric surgery?
Typically, other insurance companies will cover surgery. Check with your individual plan.
