A 2002 National Sleep Foundation poll revealed 74% of American adults experience a sleep problem a few nights or more a week. Those problems could result in greater issues than just fighting to stay awake through that morning meeting or class lecture. Prolonged sleep problems are associated with a number of chronic diseases and conditions—such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity and depression.
